Nitrile (Buna-N) Rubber Sheets for Die Cut Gaskets & Seals

Nitrile rubber — also known as acrylonitrile butadiene rubber, NBR, or Buna-N — is a synthetically produced, petroleum-based rubber ideal for Die Cut seals, gaskets, and o-rings.

Nitrile is a highly versatile rubber. It is used in countless applications and products, from marine fuel systems to small engine carburetors. Buna-N is currently one of the most widely used elastomers in the manufacture of seals.

Features and Benefits

Among nitrile rubber’s strongest characteristics are its chemical resistances. It has excellent resistance to:

acrylonitrile butadiene

  • Water
  • Alcohols
  • Synthetic oils
  • Solvents
  • Silicone greases
  • Hydraulic fluids
  • Propane
  • Butane
  • A wide range of fuels, from aromatic and non-aromatic petroleum to aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon jet fuels

Aside from its array of chemical resistances, Nitrile has other ideal physical characteristics that contribute to its versatility and popularity. Nitrile can operate temperatures as cold as –40ºF and withstand temporary dips as low as –70ºF, to as hot as between 210 to 250ºF, withstanding temporary increases of over 250ºF.

Nitrile also has Shore A hardness rating from 40 to 90, an excellently low compression set value, high tensile strength ranging from between 200 and 3,500 PSI, elongation ratings of between 300 and 650%.

Optimal for Automotive and Other Oil-Resistant Die Cut Gasket Applications

These traits and physical properties make nitrile an optimal choice for high stress and oil-resistant applications, including:cgr-nitrile-rubber

Due in large part to Buna-N’s high petroleum-based oil resistance, nitrile based seals, and connectors perform excellent in oil and gas industry applications, such as in refineries and on drilling platforms.
